The Nashoba Youth Hockey Association is proud to announce that we are accepting applications for the Bill Richards Memorial Scholarship: Positive Community Impact.
About the Scholarship
William “Bill” Richards demonstrated dedication to youth sports and a remarkable commitment to community. A former hockey player, Bill offered his time to Nashoba Youth Hockey as a parent, coach, and board member. Bill also made a positive impact in his community by devoting his time to raising funds for youth sports programs. Bill, through his deeds, contributed to the growth of young athletes' abilities and nurtured a spirit of teamwork and community in those around him.
To honor and further Bill's legacy of good citizenship, the Nashoba Youth Hockey Association offers this scholarship to a Nashoba Youth Hockey member who has demonstrated a positive impact in their community.
Details
Award
Nashoba Youth Hockey will award one (1) recipient with a one-time $500 scholarship.
Determination & Timeline
The Nashoba Youth Hockey Association Board of Directors will review applications and supporting documentation, selecting a recipient who best meets the scholarship eligibility criteria. Recipient will be notified in writing and announced publicly by NYHA.

Eligibility Requirements
To be considered eligible for the Bill Richards Memorial Scholarship, applicants must meet the following requirements:
- Graduate and receive a diploma from high school in the Spring of 2024
- Demonstrate positive community impact
- Must have played with NYHA for a minimum of 4 years
- Maintain average 3.0 or higher cumulative grade point average
- Current or past registration with NYHA for 4 or more years
- Provide proof of acceptance to a technical school, college or university for the Fall of 2024
- Additional consideration will be given to applicants who have played for Nashoba Youth Hockey during their high school years.
Submission
Applicants must complete and submit the following:
- Application
- Personal essay demonstrating positive impact to applicant's community
- Recommendation letter from a teacher, coach, or other non-family member
- Proof of acceptance to an accredited technical school, college, or university for the 2024-2025 academic year
- Official transcript
- Authorization and Acknowledgement Form
Terms
By applying to the Nashoba Youth Hockey Association (“NYHA”) for the Bill Richards Memorial Scholarship (“scholarship”), you agree to the following terms:
- You must be a U.S. resident.
- You agree to provide your email and mailing address, complete application, essay, and any required supporting documentation to be considered an applicant for the scholarship.
- You must enroll in an accredited technical school, college, or university located in the United States and will provide documentation of enrollment for the fall semester of the following school year.
- Applicants must be in good standing with NYHA to be considered for the scholarship.
- Scholarship proceeds will be remitted directly to the technical school, college, or university you enroll with. For payment to be remitted, recipients agree to complete a Scholarship Payment Form, including information about where the award will be sent. NYHA will remit payment to the technical school, college, or university within 60 days of receipt of this form from you. If Scholarship Payment Form is not complete or received, the award will not be disbursed, and the recipient may forfeit the award.
- By applying for this scholarship, you grant Nashoba Youth Hockey permission to post your name on www.nashobahockey.com or in other marketing communications.
- By applying for this scholarship, recipients agree to submit a current photo and grant NYHA permission to use recipient’s name and photo on www.nashobahockey.com and in other marketing communications.
- NYHA reserves the right to change the scholarship offerings at any time, including available scholarships, deadlines, requirements, award amounts or other details.
- NYHA will notify recipient by U.S. Mail and by email to the addresses provided by applicants. Recipients agree to provide current email and mailing addresses. NYHA does not take responsibility for communications that do not reach recipients.
- In the event that a recipient does not acknowledge in writing the acceptance of the scholarship award, NYHA reserves the right to not award the scholarship to the recipient, to award the scholarship to another applicant, or to redistribute the scholarship award dollars to another scholarship.
